You are helping me make sure I'm not overpaying Apple or Google and that my purchase flow fits the 2026 rules. This is educational, not legal advice. Rules change often, so verify every number against the official pages if you can browse.
1. Inspect the project (read only)
- Find the purchase stack: StoreKit, Google Play Billing, RevenueCat, Stripe web checkout, or links out to the web.
- List products and subscriptions, and note which regions the app ships to (check store metadata, i18n, or ask me).
2. Ask me
- Annual store revenue (roughly) per platform.
- Whether I've enrolled in the Apple App Store Small Business Program. It's not automatic.
- Whether I distribute in the EU, and through which channels.
3. Explain my effective rate
Use the 2026 numbers below and show the yearly money at stake:
- Apple: 30% standard, or 15% in the Small Business Program (first $1M/yr, application required). Subscriptions after year one: 15%.
- Apple EU (from 1 Oct 2026): 26% with Apple IAP (15% small business), 20% with alternative payments (10% reduced), and a 5% Core Technology Commission for distribution outside the App Store. The old €0.50 per-install fee is gone.
- Apple US link-outs: no commission on purchases made through external links for now (Ninth Circuit, Dec 2025). The Supreme Court has agreed to hear Apple's appeal.
- Google Play (US/EEA/UK, from 30 Jun 2026): 10% on the first $1M and on subscriptions, +5% if using Play Billing. Above $1M: 20% (new installs) / 25% (existing).
- Publishing: Apple $99/yr · Google $25 once.
4. Recommend
- If I'm eligible and not enrolled in Small Business, say so first and give me the link to apply.
- Whether a web checkout or link-out is allowed in my regions, and how to implement it to the store's guidelines.
- Concrete code/config changes (e.g. RevenueCat offerings, StoreKit external purchase entitlements) as diffs.
Rules
- Don't change pricing or store settings. Tell me what to change.
- End with: my current rate → possible rate → yearly difference.
